A special and in-depth art meeting as part of the closing of the exhibition “Ebb and Flow” — an open conversation with sculptor Varda Yatom, one of the most prominent artists in the field of ceramic sculpture in Israel, accompanied by the exhibition curator Asia Dublin.
Varda Yatom, who lives and creates in Kibbutz Sasa in the Upper Galilee, presents a powerful body of work in which sculpture becomes a human testimony to fracture, survival, and hope.
In the meeting, participants will be exposed to Yatom’s unique working processes — dismantling and rebuilding, burning the material, breaking it and reassembling it — with a fascinating combination of clay, stone, leather, and iron.
The conversation will delve into the techniques, materials, and sources of inspiration that have accompanied her work over the years, and will touch on topics such as:
At the center of the exhibition is a powerful installation, in which lost boats and hanging figures seek a foothold in a shaky world — a work that provokes thought, emotion, and introspection.
The meeting will open with the curator’s words and continue with a conversation with the artist, including a shared observation of the installation and questions from the audience.
Asia Dublin is an independent curator and creator who has been working in the field of art and culture for over a decade. Over the years, she has initiated and curated dozens of exhibitions and cultural projects, connecting art, community, crafts, and local culture, and promoting creators from the Western Galilee.
