A Medieval Feast at the Arabesque Hotel in the Old City of Akko!

The hotel’s ancient stone ceilings lit only by candlelight, the sounds of medieval music, and long tables like in the banquet halls of old will take you back to the 12th and 13th centuries when the Crusaders lived here. During the evening you will enjoy five unique dishes — from the dishes eaten by the pilgrims to the dishes served to the kings at feasts and celebrations. All dishes were prepared according to original recipes from the Middle Ages. You will be able to taste what the Crusaders and the inhabitants of the Holy Land ate about 800 years ago. Using spices such as saffron and accurate historical ingredients will recreate the unique taste of the period. A fascinating story about the medieval inhabitants’ culture, customs, and culinary secrets accompanies each dish. This unique evening was created by a medieval reenactor and crusader expert in the Holy Land, who participates in historical battles, including the Battle of Horns of Chitin. The Betzet Stream trail is a very friendly, short and beautiful route of about 3 km. The trail takes you along a green path, full of trees while you walk beside the river. The two banks of the Betzet stream are guarded by huge Plane trees and oleander bushes and ensure a pleasant chill even in the summer.

Porcelain Workshop at the Secrets of the Kibbutz Miracle

In the tours of Kibbutz Kfar Masaryk we emphasize the experience – one of the experiences offered to you is the Porcelain Workshop: Painting on porcelain plates inspired by the magnificent display of Na’aman Porcelain, the work of Kfar Masaryk from the 1940s. Ghetto Fighters’ House Museum

The Ghetto Fighters’ House – Itzhak Katzenelson Holocaust and Jewish Resistance Heritage Museum– known as the “House” – is not only the first Holocaust museum in the world but also the first of its kind to be founded by Holocaust survivors. The museum tells the story of the Holocaust during World War II, emphasizing the bravery, spiritual triumph and the incredible ability of Holocaust survivors and the fighters of the revolt to rebuild their lives in a new country about which they had dreamed – the State of Israel. The Ghetto Fighters’ House gives evidence to the founders’ vision. Having to put behind them the grief and the horror, they chose to come to the Western Galilee in order to build a flourishing kibbutz – the Ghetto Fighters’ Kibbutz – and the museum located within the community. In 1995, the Yad Layeled Children’s Memorial Museum was established at the Ghetto Fighters’ House in order to commemorate the memory of the Jewish children who perished during the Holocaust. The aim of the children’s museum is to acquaint young visitors with the world of the children who lived during the Holocaust, providing an experiential venue through which they can explore the subject of the Holocaust in an age appropriate manner.

Rosh Hanikra Beach — Recommended by Tour Guide Ayelet Bar-Meir Rosh Hanikra Beach is the northernmost beach in the country and the walk along it brings us together with a magical landscape, coastal vegetation, and interesting history. The route begins in the square near Rosh Hanikra, from here go down to the beach, in front of you you will see the remains of an ancient quarry and small pools of water that remained here to testify to days when it passed through trade on the kurkar ridge and in kurkar, other uses were made, such as quarrying stones for construction and mining ponds for the purpose collecting salt. To the north is the Sulam Tzur ridge, which crosses the border between Israel and Lebanon, and the white cliff of Rosh Hanikra, which kisses the sea. Climb the kurkar ridge and you will see beyond it the flat fencing tables made by time and waves. Continue north and climb the small hill, the broken sea view will be revealed to your eyes and another beautiful section of the ancient quarry. From here return from the path surrounded by vegetation to the vehicle. In front of the entrance to Moshav Liman, a little south of Betzet Junction, you will find a shady and pleasant eucalyptus grove with picnic tables. The pleasant air coming from the sea and the shade of the spacious eucalyptus trees make the place a nice spot to stop and enjoy the Galilean tranquility.

The Citadel – Music in Akko

Under the heading “You have a place to hangout”, a new entertainment complex for music and live performances called “The Citadel” was launched in Old Akko. The entertainment complex was set up in the festival gardens in Old Akko. The concept of the new entertainment venue is to have live performances by the best artists, around tables or standing and when the performance is over an all-night DJ Party awaits you. Food can be purchased at the venue and is provided by The Rutz restaurant, which is located on the entertainment complex. The maximum occupancy at the festival grounds is 500 people and the entry is on a first come, first served basis. Lily Sharon Park

Across Napoleon Hill, the City of Akko has set up the Lily Sharon Park, a tourist attraction for couples, families or groups for a day of fun. Lily Sharon Park is located in a large, beautiful grove north of Ben Ami Street (Highway 85). The park serves as an outdoor recreation area with picnic tables scattered among the trees. In the center of the park, at its highest point, children’s playgrounds were placed. Among the options offered in the park are: play areas, walk-able trails, parking, picnic areas, fountains, toilets, amphitheater and event space. Entrance to the park is free of charge and no prior arrangement is required, as well as bus parking on site. Due to the park’s strategic location and proximity to several points of interest in Akko, the park can serve as a great base for breakfast, lunch or a haven from the heavy heat.

Tel Akko

Tel Akko also known as Napoleon’s Hill is located at the entrance to the city and welcomes those entering Acre from the eastern side. It is known as the historic site to which Napoleon Bonaparte had reached and then failed to breach into Akko. From Tel Akko you can get a view of the Old City, the sea and the city walls. Archeological and historical findings teach that Tel Akko was where the city of Akko first stood in ancient times and up to the beginning of the Hellenistic period, the city’s center eventually shifted west to where the Old City of Acre is located today. Some of the findings revealed at Tel Akko teach us that it had, among other things, a Purple-Dye industry producing the color from two types of snails inhabiting the Na’aman River area. Okashi Art Museum

Adjacent to the Knights’ Halls in Old Acre, an ancient building with cruciform domes dating back to the Ottoman period houses a museum featuring rotating exhibitions of Israeli art alongside a permanent exhibit of the works of late artist, Avshalom Okashi (1916-1980). Okashi was undoubtedly one of Israel’s most salient artists and he left an indelible mark on Israeli art. He spent most of his life in Acre, where he set up his painting workshop (which became the Okashi Museum posthumously) in order to pass on his artistic heritage to future generations. Okashi taught art in most of Acre’s schools. He also taught at the University of Haifa’s Art Department during its initial years. The subjects of his early works are rooted in nature and in the human and spiritual reality of Israel and they are drawn from the biblical texts he grew up on in his grandfather’s home. His works are exhibited in the section dedicated to the museum’s permanent exhibition in his name, which was established in his memory in Old Acre. Moreover, there are rotating exhibitions in the other section of the museum also featuring contemporary Israeli art.The museum maintains an ongoing dialogue with artists pursuing Okashi’s path and with his pupils and exhibits their works at every possible opportunity.

Knight’s Hall – Hospitaller Fortress

The Knights’ Halls were formerly used for lodging and eating for the Crusader settlements in Akko, which are located in the Akko fortress. The halls were discovered in the 1960s during an excavation for laying sewer pipes, and the site research began in 1992, and as of 2012, the conservation and excavation work had not yet been completed. The hall structure consists of four wings. The northern wing is located on the northern route of the Akko Wall, with nine long and narrow halls. The east wing has a large hall – the “Grand Monier”, which is covered with cross vaults. This hall served as a conference hall and a place to have ceremonies for the Knights. The southern wing is where the magnificent Gothic-style refectory resides. Underneath the dining room is a tunnel that leads to the southern part of the complex, containing the remains of a Gothic church and a Turkish hammam that is on the level of the Crusader city and most of which has not yet been exposed. The west wing has two floors for the combatants’ living quarters. Both the west wing and the south wing are built in a grand style, and were probably built in a later period. The visit to the Knights’ Hall is accompanied by an audio guide that tells the story of the fortress. The walk between the halls is done independently and in each hall an explanation can be heard. The entire site is accessible to the disabled except for the getaway cave.

The Underground Prisoners Museum, Old Akko

The Underground Prisoners Museum in Old Akko is a memorial museum in memory of the members of the Jewish Underground imprisoned in the Akko prison during the British Mandate period. The Museum of Underground Prisoners, operated by the Ministry of Defense, has created an innovative display depicting the circumstances of the underground fighters’ incarceration, their life in prison, the story of the Akko prison breakout, and the story of the gallows. The tour highlights the core values during the time the underground fighters operated: Zionism and the love of the land, heroism and sacrifice. The museum is housed in the Akko fortress, which was built during the Ottoman period. During the Ottoman rule, the fortress served as a military base, the Akko governor’s residence and more.

Achziv Beach Trek

Gali Galil Beach

Gali Galil Beach is a beach protected by a breakwater integrated with the Nahariya Beach Boardwalk, shade sheds have been set up for bathers with wooden tables, lawns, lifeguards, toilets, showers and a kiosk. In addition to the children’s pool which includes water slides and a toddler pool. The beach is handled by the Nahariya Municipality on a regular basis throughout the year and open throughout the year, admission to the beach complex is free of charge. During the summer months, the pool complex is also open for residents and visitors of Nahariya, entrance fee to the pool complex is also free of charge. The beach facilities include an Olympic swimming pool, a children’s swimming pool that includes many facilities and slides for childrens enjoyment, a toddler swimming pool which also includes facilities and slides for the toddlers. In the heart of the old city of Akko, in an ancient 1,000-year-old house, in the narrow and picturesque alley where the Ramchal Synagogue is located, is a charming gallery on the top floor of which is a guest apartment attached to a roof terrace. The Grape House

The Grape House is named for the vine that grows throughout the yard of the house and climbs its walls. The guesthouse is located in an ancient house, home to the grandfather and grandmother of the owner Marwan Suad, who is also co-owner of the famous Elmarsa restaurant in the fishermen’s port of Old City, Akko. The house is located in an idyllic alley in front of the Efendi Hotel, which has two floors and four modern rooms, clean, comfortable, spacious, simple and unobtrusive.

The complex has 2 large wooden cabins and a romantic double cabin. Each cabin has a double bed, Jacuzzi, a fully equipped kitchenette and a coffee corner. There is a cozy relaxation area with TV and dining area. The family cabins have a private gallery floor for children. Outside the cabins you will find tea herbs and seasonal plants, a pleasant terrace, a barbecue area, hammocks and lots of grass areas. You can order massages in a variety of treatment techniques: deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, combination of hot stones, aromatherapy oils, cupping and more. A salt room to clean and purify the respiratory system is also available. The treatments are provided by a qualified therapist and are customized to each guest.

The cabin will leave you with a taste for more and will give you a reason to come again. The cabins are suitable for both couples and families looking for pampering and delight in a magical atmosphere. In the cabins there is a TV, compact disc, dining area, fully equipped kitchen. The bedroom has a luxurious double bed and every cabin has a luxurious Jacuzzi, toilet and shower. A rich, country-style breakfast can be served to the cabin if ordered in advance. Bustan Hagalil is an excellent starting point for many tours and attractions in the area. The moshav is close to the sea, to Akko, the Baha’i Garden, to streams and other sites in the area.
