Arabesque — Boutique Hotel & Artists’ Residence in the Heart of Old Akko

Arabesque is a boutique hotel and artists’ residence located in the heart of the old city in a spectacularly beautiful Ottoman building. When Professor Evan Fallenberg, writer and translator, founded Arabesque, he saw in his vision a home for artists, people of culture and spirit, a house of connections and community. Shtarkman Erna Boutique Hotel

It all began in 1934 when Dr Soskin and Yosef Levi conceived the idea of establishing a Jewish settlement north of Akko. In 1935, the community of Nahariya was established and eventually became a leisure city, owing much of the hard work to a group of Jews hailing from all across Germany. The local authority also played a role by encouraging people to acquire adjacent plots of land. In the 1930’s, Dr. Alois Shtarkman bought land near the seashore for the price of what was then the equivalent of three monthly salaries. The plot was vacant until the late 1950s when the decision was made to build two houses for the Shtarkman Family (Alois and Charlotte) and the Bendheim Family (Erna and Herman). At the beginning of the 1960’s, Dr. Alois Shtarkman traveled to the United States with his wife and son Michael for work purposes, while Erna remained in Israel and began to operate the homes as “Pension Erna”for hosting summer campers. It was such a great success thanks to Erna’s warm hospitality and wonderful cakes; the hotel was best known for her apple strudel. Upon the return of the Shtarkman family from America, and in light of its success, the building was expanded and its name was changed to “Erna’s House”. The two sisters reunited and ran the hotel together. In 1974 Charlotte died and Erna remained to help Michael who took over the management of the hotel. Michael introduced a “young spirit” to the hotel and invested it with all his strength, special character and sense of humor, which brought many guests from Israel and around the world. In 1982 Michael married Hannah, and immediately afterward, Erna died and the founders’ chapter ended. Soon they had four daughters who grew into the family hotel. The city of Nahariya prospered and so did the hotel, and that period will always be remembered. In 2001, Michael passed away, and in 2014 the family decided that the hotel would undergo extensive refurbishment yet still preserve some of the original furniture as the family’s legacy. Today the hotel is managed by the women of the family’s third generation and its feminine leadership style can be seen in every aspect. They put great emphasis on aesthetics, never compromise on cleanliness, and the service is compassionate, yet meticulous and precise.

Currently, Chateau du Roi offers eight accommodation units, including two lovely double rooms above the historical Frankish period (Crusader) wine factory. Salma Assaf, a resident of the village of Mi’ilya, an avid antiquities enthusiast, and a graduate of the Department of History, began her life’s work about two decades ago with her late husband, Labib Assaf. Hala Castle – Villa in the Village & Cooking Workshops

You are invited to a unique overnight experience in the pleasant and quiet Druze village of Yanuh. In front of the spectacular view of the Western Galilee overlooking the Yechiam fortress, the sea, and the wild grove, sits the Hala Castle. A spacious and pleasant villa designed by hand with careful thought down to the smallest details. The villa has several authentic seating areas for the whole family, a well-kept garden surrounding the house, a heated pool, and more. Tamar & Gefen at Mitzpe Hila is a small and beautiful complex with three luxurious B&B cabins, hand-built by Tamar and Yaron Cohen. Each cabin has a hot tub overlooking nature. Tamar, a graphic designer, grew up in Nahariya to a family who, while still in Europe, made wine and alcoholic drinks. Tamar sees design and textures in living color, she’s in love with natural materials, enjoys playing with their combinations and contrasts, loves cooking, baking, and entertaining. Yaron, part of a farmer family from Moshav Avdon in the Western Galilee, grew up surrounded by orchards, chicken pens, and tractors. As the years went by, he followed his heart, planted a vineyard at Mitzpe Hila, right next to his home, and mastered winemaking. Rooted, construction, and carpentry expert and non-stop craftsman. Accommodation Suites at Beit Elfarasha

Beit Elfarasha opened in December 2020 and is housed in a recently renovated Ottoman building located in a picturesque alley in the heart of the Old City of Akko, close to the Mediterranean Sea and about a minute walk to the Old Sea Wall. The entrance level includes a modern kitchen where the workshops are held and a guest room for cultural events. On the first floor is located two spacious guest rooms and the top floor contains a large balcony overlooking the sea. It is a perfect place to rest, breathe good air and soak up the atmosphere of an ancient Mediterranean city.

Yasmine House

Yasmine house is a four-hundred-year-old Ottoman structure located in one of the small alleys of the Old City of Akko. A forty-step staircase leads to the beautiful house of Miriam Aik and includes a central space with a high and painted ceiling, four HOME STAY rooms and a private suite for accommodation. Miriam Aik, who was born and raised in Acre, always dreamed of living in an old house with large windows. Her dream came true about 22 years ago when her brother bought an ancient house in Akko and invited her to live there. Since then, Miriam has owned, managed and nurtured the home with incredible talent. Jimmy Aik, a native of Akko who now lives in Switzerland, is the set designer at the Geneva Opera and is responsible for the impressive ceiling painting in the main space of the house. Miriam’s kitchen is well known in Akko. You are welcome to visit Miriam’s home and experience Akko for all its wonders. The large space of the house is now used to host families and groups, who are interested in tasting Miriam’s dishes, hearing her stories and attending Miriam’s cooking workshops. The Love Estate Huts

Alongside the Kziv stream and the Monfort Fortress, in the heart of Moshav Goren there are four unique wooden huts located in a magical and green complex. In the courtyard of the huts there are hammocks, shaded seating areas immersed in rich green varden, barbecue areas and wooden rocking chairs, a swimming pool, spa Jacuzzi, snooker table. In the love estate in the threshing floor there is a large swimming pool, a dry sauna, in a romantic atmosphere. The cabins were built with the hands of the host, Yair and hence every detail has a personal touch for your convenience. In the spacious pomegranate hut you will find a wooden double bed on which rests a comfortable mattress covered with soft bedding. Above the bed are amazingly shaped bulbs that illuminate the bed in beautiful shades of gold. Next to the bed is a huge panoramic window overlooking the courtyard of the cabin, and next to it is a spacious circular Jacuzzi that is immersed in the cabin floor and surrounded by candles. In the romantic seating area there is a warm and romantic fireplace for the cool winter days and air conditioning for the summer days, a satellite LCD screen and a home cinema system. The spacious bathroom has a shower, soft towels and caressing bathrobes for your convenience. In the fully equipped kitchenette you will find a wooden corner, a comfortable dining area, a wooden island in the middle of the kitchen, fine wine, a rich coffee corner, espresso machine, refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle. The cabin is surrounded by windows that allow the green that surrounds you to enter inside and create a relaxed home atmosphere. If you look for peace and tranquility, the windows are wrapped in warm, earthy curtains that can be heated and let the sun shine softly inside. We’ve built the guest house on the second floor above our house. We offer an intimate, warm and friendly refuge for travelers venturing off the beaten track. Ana Akko Hostel

The unique Akko hostel is situated right outside the Old City of Akko, also known as Acre, and incorporates archaeological antiques in its structure. The hostel accommodation has 76 rooms, all at a very high standard, which offer a beautiful view facing the walls of the old city. Hostel guests are able to enjoy the ancient aqueduct – used to transport water to the old city during the Ottoman period – which is incorporated into the hostel. The hostel has a unique design which combines modern design with a touch of the city’s authentic style. The dining room seats 350 guests. Internet access and breakfast are included in the price, and additional meals (included packaged meals) can be ordered in advance. Food is kosher.

The Shafika House is located in the heart of the Old City of Akko. There are 3 accommodation units, one family and two premium. There is an outdoor courtyard shared by the three units. All of them have air conditioners, coffee machines, refrigerators, dishes, heaters, and free wifi. You can order breakfast and lunch by ordering in advance. Suitable for couples and families.

Nzar Khoury for Hosting

Nazar Khoury guest house is located in the Old City of Akko, a short walk from the marina and next to the Akko promenade. The guest house offers four guest rooms suitable for couples, small groups and individuals who want to enjoy a stay in the beautiful center of the Old City of Akko. Surrounding the guest house you will find all the attractions and historical sites that ancient Akko has to offer, a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, shops and more. Rooms are offered on a bed-and-breakfast basis and have basic accommodations like a youth hostel. Each room includes a fan, heating, clothes rack, shower, toilet and more. In the studio apartment suitable for families you will also find a seating area, kitchenette, shower, toilet, refrigerator, kitchen utensils and stove top. Bed linen and towels can also be requested. At the center of the guest house there is a communal kitchen where guests can prepare light meals, and a variety of different restaurants are within a few minutes’ walk from the guest house. Lake Camping – Lake Monfort

Monfort Lake, the first ecological park in Israel, is located near Ma’alot in the heart of the Western Galilee, surrounded by lawns and activity facilities. Families, groups and hikers can enjoy a variety of attractions, recreation and vacation for all ages. On the eastern side of the lake, in view of a Galilean mountain landscape, is the camping parking. The parking lot is large and fenced and is intended for overnight stays for organized groups, school trips, youth movements and more. Various social activities can be held there. The site is open for families on holidays and weekends in the summer. In the camping area of the lake you will find wide lawns, JNF tables, showers and toilets with hot water, and a kitchen equipped with refrigerators, gas, food preparation surfaces and sinks that allow for cooking on the compound. Chairs for each family. You can stay in a tent from home or rent a tent from the compound, with a reservation in advance. The parking area is bright and fenced and there is also a charging area for cell phones. Arrival by appointment only.

Camping Achziv Beach

The Achziv Beach camping site is located on the coast of the most beautiful nature reserve in Israel. The enchanting Achziv Beach offers over 40 accommodations for couples, families and groups in two areas: a tent complex and a glamping compound. The guests of the beach accommodations enjoy unique hospitality and nature exclusive to the northern Galilee. All guests have parking for cars and buses, free entry to the beautiful and clear beach, guards and security, toilets and dressing rooms, and a first aid kit. Achziv beach has a declared bathing area and rescue services (in season), a variety of attractions and water sports, bar restaurant and more. As part of the hospitality experience, we provide a central area that includes a barbecue area, refrigerators and a dish wash basin. The Glamping complex – 20 tents with sea views located on wooden platforms opposite Achziv’s magical beach. The private terrace of each tent is also located on these platforms, including a table and molded straw chairs. In each tent there is a bed with a double mattress, a futon that accommodates two people and an extra mattress. Accommodation includes bed linen for guests only and pillows for double bed only. Each unit has a minibar, a fan and a personal shower stall.

Achziv Beach National Park

Blue bays and rocky crevices, sandstone ridges and rare plants, sea turtle nesting sites, the remains of the biblical town of Akhziv, and the sea-pool bathing beach – all await you at Achziv Beach. The length of the beach is five kilometers; the park includes the western part of the Ladder Ridge in the Achziv National Park, which is an exit point for excursions in the area and a parking lot for night stays. Lagoons and bathing pools at Achziv National Park are a wonderful combination of natural phenomena and the work of man. The beach has two pools: a pool of shallow water and a pool of deep water.
