The ingredients for a perfect day with friends in the Galilee:
- An activity that will provide an escapist disconnect
- Excellent coffee and food
- Inspiration that will fill you with new energy
- A pinch of shopping (of course, according to personal taste)
And so that you can plan your perfect fun day, we have created some serving suggestions for you. And you can, of course, also combine the suggestions. Whatever suits you!
"Culture & Cleanliness" — A Day of Art, Workshops & Inspiring Meetings
To avoid loading up on culture on an empty stomach, it is recommended to start your Galilee journey with breakfast and great coffee. Alto Cafe in Kibbutz Shomrat will be a wonderful start to your day with locally produced goat’s milk cheeses, fresh pastries, colorful salads, and excellent sandwiches. There is also an on-site deli where you can stock up on fine local produce.
A short drive from Shomrat, in Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta’ot, is Koby Sibony’s Studio. Sibony, a graduate of the Industrial Design Department at Bezalel, creates a wonderful range of works that are all based on a single raw material – 1 mm thick iron wire. You can arrange a meeting of about an hour, for a nominal fee, where you can hear from Koby about the sources of his creativity and inspiration, the path he has taken, and the sculptures in the studio. You can also arrange a workshop and prepare your unique work under Koby’s guidance and, of course, purchase some of his amazing works for those interested.
There are great options for another coffee break in Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta’ot, but it is worth waiting a little longer with your coffee and drinking it in the picturesque alleys of Old Akko.
In Akko, leave your car in the free “Hafir” parking lot. From the parking lot, it is recommended to continue walking through the alleys of the Old City. In the port area, you will find small, picturesque galleries, all within a short walking distance of each other. At the ART192 Gallery, you can find works of ceramics, paper, pottery, and glass. At the Akko Art Gallery, you will find a variety of Israeli art. You can also visit the Arabesque Hotel in the heart of the market and be impressed by the works of art displayed in the foyer and the impressive Ottoman building. Everywhere you will be greeted with a smile and an explanation of the art displayed and the story of the gallery’s establishment. Each of the galleries is a wonderful opportunity to support local artists and add that pinch of shopping that appeared on the checklist.
Akko offers a wide variety of culinary options. From the wonderful falafel stalls of the market to restaurants with a Mediterranean atmosphere like the Turkiz Restaurant. In the afternoon, you can enjoy the breeze and the magnificent sea view at the restaurant on the roof of the Akotika Hotel. In any case, don’t leave the city without tasting the perfect dessert at Tina’s Malabi House!
If you feel like pampering yourself, you can stay overnight in Akko in one of the magical accommodations or luxurious boutique hotels.

"The Greens" — A Day Marked by Sustainability & Social Entrepreneurship
We recommend drinking your first coffee at Kamah-Cafe & Gallery in Kibbutz Harduf. The place is a restorative, strengthening, and healing home for adults with special needs, and at-risk youth. The integration into the community allows both parties to experience giving, tolerance, and development, while creatively dealing with challenges and changing conditions. Along with the coffee, you can enjoy fresh pastries and breakfasts, based on fresh, natural, and mostly organic ingredients. In addition to wonderful food and great coffee, the place also offers for sale charming ceramics, cakes, bread, and wonderful granola, produced on-site in the rehabilitation employment workshops that operate there. A great opportunity for some shopping with added value.
After you have entered the Galilean atmosphere, you can continue the day in the spirit of sustainability, with Paula Rykin at the TIN TIME Studio, in the village of Gilon. The studio offers workshops for creation based on reused materials. The workshops take place in Paula’s colorful and inspiring studio, where she creates recycled art and design items from surprising raw materials. You can choose a workshop or activity according to your budget and the time available.
Another option is a tour with Orna Rothbert Nitzan, a graduate of styling therapy, who will lead you through secondhand stores in the Galilee, and help you find the items that best suit you while building precision and reconnecting with yourself, in a way that will allow each person to choose who they want to be through their clothes.
Equipped with new styles and insights into your wardrobe, you can continue for lunch. If you are looking for a Galilean restaurant with a story and added value, you are invited to the Noor Restaurant in the Druze village of Julis. Taste delicious (and kosher) dishes from the Druze cuisine, and hear from the owner Basma about her personal story and why she lit a torch on the last Independence Day.
Another option is to head to the picturesque village of Tarshiha and enjoy a meal at Tupelo, a magical cafe where all of its products are gluten-free! The cafe belongs to Vered and Murad, who met while working at the famous Adelina restaurant in Kibbutz Cabri and have been a couple in life and the kitchen ever since. After lunch, you can enjoy a stroll through the alleys of the ancient village.

"Spirituality" — A Day with an Emphasis on Connecting with Yourself, the Universe, & Consciousness
Even the most spiritual group needs coffee in the morning (or organic Galilean herbal tea). You are invited to start your day at Cafe Yodfat, in the most picturesque tourist complex and the most magical view in the Galilee — Boacha Yodfat. While you enjoy the view, the breeze, and the food, you can ask the dedicated staff or the charming owner of the complex, to hear a little about the establishment of the Yodfat village and the unique complex that attracts visitors from all over the country. In addition to fine coffee and a spectacular view, the center offers special boutique shops, local produce from the Galilee, and a wonderful atmosphere.
After visiting Yodfat, you are invited to continue east on the beautiful Highway 7955 which passes through green Galilean landscapes and ends in the village of Hararit. Hararit is a village that was established in the 1980s by a group of meditators from the Transcendental Meditation movement, and to this day maintains its spiritual character. Dalia and Boaz, from Bahar — a hospitality and workshop center, will be happy to tailor an activity of your choice – meetings, and workshops from the spiritual worlds, yoga and meditation workshops, healing sounds, art workshops, and inspiring meetings with the people of the village.
To connect back to the ground, and to more earthly levels, you are invited to continue for lunch at the wonderful restaurants that the Galilee offers. The Lotem Winery, which serves organic wine and light food alongside it, or Rom Farm Bistro in Kammon with dairy food (and kosher) and wonderful farm cheeses produced on site. There you can also pamper yourself with a spa in front of the amazing view.
Of course, you can tailor your perfect day for yourself by mixing and matching all of the above options. Whatever you choose, you are guaranteed a wonderful day in the Galilee, combining all the best that the north has to offer. Need help planning? We are here! Feel free to contact us, and together we will plan a perfect day of fun in the Galilee with experiences that will leave you wanting more!
