Kurdish Stuffed Onions & Grape Leaves Recipe “Prach” – Shula from Shtula
Ingredients for the Filling:
- Half a kilogram of round rice – washed
- Package of chopped dill
- Package of chopped green onions
- Half a cup of oil
- Half a cup of lemon juice
- Tablespoon of salt
** Mix together all the Ingredients for the filling.
- 3 onions
- Grape leaves (preferable fresh in the season)
Preparation:
- Extract the hearts of the onions and fill them with the prepared mixture.
- Flatten the vine leaves (after they have been washed and rinsed) place the mixture in the middle and roll the sides like sweets.
- Place the stuffed onions at the bottom of a pot.
- On top add the stuffed vine leaves. You can add a few layers one on top of the other.
- Add water to cover it all.
- Put on high heat and cook until it boils. Then lower the heat and cook for another 40 minutes to let the onions at the bottom become slightly brown.
