Although the war has taken Shula away from her home in Shtula, she continues to bring her culinary magic to you — with the authentic Kurdish delicacies and fascinating life story that made her a local legend. Now, instead of hosting in her home, Shula brings the cuisine and stories to you at home — to the whole country.
Shula lives in Shtula, a village on the Israeli-Lebanese border. The road leading up to Shtula is one of the prettiest in all the Western Galilee.
Shula Giladi loves to entertain groups of people and feed them her tasty cooking. Shula serves delicacies at her house and green garden, the most famous of which is the okra kubbeh. Also served are meatballs, Yafrech (stuffed onions and grape leaves), potato latkes, chicken, cooked and fresh salads, and a side of special rice, beans, and homemade pickles.
At the end of the meal, over tea and pastries, Shula will be happy to tell you her personal and fascinating story with a humorous touch and sometimes end with a song.
During the week, her hospitality is intended for groups of ten people or more, but every Friday starting in May, she opens “Shula’s Parliament” at her place, and then you are invited to come to her for lunch in any vehicle and enjoy her delicacies, stories and smile. In addition, by prior arrangement, you are invited to order her prepared food to your home or to a B&B.
