You are invited to a fascinating meeting at the Organ Workshop in the village of Yuvalim in Misgav where you will hear about the ancient organ and its performances in the cinema over the years.
The organ workshop in Yuvalim is the only one of its kind in Israel — a workshop and visitor center where organs of various sizes built by Gideon Shamir stand.
Uri Shani, the owner of the workshop, invites you to the “Films and Musical Pipes” meeting which includes a welcome at the workshop, a tour of the variety of special instruments, a craftsman meeting where you can hear about the organ and its history, where the organ came from and where you can find organs today. Later we will dive into a fascinating meeting that includes watching scenes from movies in which the organ is the main star. Over the last hundred years, the organ has appeared in dozens of films. Uri will explain briefly about each film, about the organ that appears in it and above all we will look at the role played by the organ in each film.
Among the films that will be shown: “My Name Is Bach”, “August Rush”, “Snow White”, “Sleeping Brother” and more!
These are American, German, French films and even one Israeli film in which the organ appears. At the end of the meeting there will be a mini-concert.
