Tal Gallery

Tal Gallery in Kfar Vradim was established in 2002 in memory of Tal Greenfeld, a young artist who died at the age of 23 and left a collection of paintings and drawings. The gallery operates as a non-profit venture and produces original exhibitions in the field of plastic art. Tal Gallery has made a name for itself producing Israeli art exhibitions, promoting young artists and encouraging art projects in the community. The gallery focuses on issues of Israeli history and identity. The gallery also serves as a meeting place for art events, festive openings and gallery events for exhibitions, art lectures, and serves as a knowledge hub for Israeli art and artists presented. The Tal Gallery has an Israeli art collection, based on a private collection of the Greenfeld family, and some of it has been collected over the years from donations by artists who have exhibited in the gallery. Tal Gallery conducts tours on the exhibition and topics from art history. The tours are arranged in advance for groups, art classes as well as student tutorials. There is also a possibility of celebrating birthdays, fun days, team building or paid groups training at the gallery.  

The Bustan Beehive, Peki’in

The Peki’in Hive was founded by Gamal Hir in 1977 in the village of Peki’in. The Hive offers relaxed entertainment and heartfelt hospitality in a beautiful area that includes a Bedouin tent overlooking spectacular views, a wide range of activities and so much more. The site was officially opened to visitors at a festive ceremony after a period of about 10 years of development and construction work.The purpose of the site is to combine rural hospitality with a variety of fun activities and the educational aspect of the site – travelers can learn about the honey production process, sun clocks and also learn about the history of the Peki’in village as well as the history of the Druze community. The site has 3 workshops for children, a living area and a petting zoo, a children’s play area, a family picnic area, 3 huge tents with big seating areas. There is a Druze restaurant for pre-reserved groups. The site is suitable for special occasions and is open in winter – there is a sealed tent,  heated by an oven.

Norman Trail

The Norman Trail, also known as the Yellow Stone Trail, is named after Norman, an artist who lives on Kfar Vradim. One day, quite a few years ago, he decided to turn the huge forested hill (Ashkar Mountain) south of the village into a kind of tacit playground. He created little trails and small, sometimes almost invisible signs that lead to the realm of imagination and great hints from fairy tails. For example, you can meet at the “house of Snow White” – which is actually a unique rock. The view from Ashkar Mountain, the Galilean atmosphere and the fantastic rocks in the area make the point worthy of coffee.    

Sit-Down with Pablo Ariel in Zikit Theater

 Zikit Theater is a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural theater, operating at Tefen in the Galilee. The use of a visual universal language and few spoken words, makes the shows equally enjoyable for speakers of different languages. Zikit Theater showcases rich and versatile means of expression including a puppet theater, object theater, movement and dance, and shadow theater. Most of the shows don’t use spoken words. For many years now, Pablo Ariel, creator, actor and director, has been holding sessions combining a lecture with video clips from his long career. In the session, he talks about different works of his, created in response to political or social events happening in Israel. The audience actively participates in the lecture and has an open dialog with the artist. The lecture is given in Israel and different places around the world, in universities in the US and Mexico and of course at Zikit Theater in the Western Galilee.

Kabri Event Center

The place for Northern performances. The Kabri event hall is air conditioned, occupies 560 people and has a professional stage. You will also find free parking, handicap accessibility and a café. Kabri hosts the best artists in the country: music performances, stand-up shows, children’s shows, conferences, social events, festivals, community events, family concerts, lectures and everything related to culture. Kabri is the place for music, comedy and more in the North. The Kabri – Mateh Asher Event Center is located in the center of the Western Galilee at Kibbutz Kabri. The vision of the hall is to reveal and make available to the residents of the area diverse cultural performances.

Atelier Shemi Gallery

Atelier Shemi is a compound and gallery in Kibbutz Cabri located in the Western Galilee, which used to be a sculpture and painting studio by Israeli artist Yehiel (Shitzberg) Shemi. His original work space and artistic heritage are preserved on site. Yehiel Shemi, one of the most important sculptors and painters in Israeli history, sat down with his friends at Kibbutz Cabri, which had been his home for most of his life. They adopted the French nickname “Atelier” and the compound was hand-built outside the settled area of Cabri. With help from his good friend Elijah Sela, the gallery was erected. Over the years additions have been added to this structure, in accordance with creative development and the needs of Shemi. There was also a shed with a lever, which allowed Shemi, to move the large-scale welds and the sculptures all with chains. In the 1990s, he deepened his interest in painting, and in addition, another structure was added to the existing structure for painting. Shemi worked in the workshop for fifty years. He died in 2003, at the age of 81. In 2011, it was decided to open Shemi’s workshop to the general public. The workshop was renovated and adapted for display. It was divided into a sculpture and painting space, its windows overlooking a sculpture garden surrounding the building and breathtaking views of the western Galilee. Shemi’s work space, painting desk and even wall stains are preserved to this day. The exhibition features interchangeable exhibitions of his works, exhibitions by other artists conducting dialogue with his work, and educational activities in collaboration with various art institutions.

Wine Bar at the Julia Winery

After years of warm and friendly service in the Julia Winery, there were calls to open the winery in the evening hours and provide a venue for a pleasant and sociable outing. Finally, out of their love of hosting guests and the desire to have visitors take part in the family’s joie de vivre, they decided to open the balcony for wine evenings. Today, everyone is invited to enjoy quality wine, a great atmosphere, music, and camaraderie in the evenings as well. The wine bar is open only on Friday evenings from 7 pm to midnight (reservations should be made in advance).

The International Dance Village — KCDC

The most beautiful place in the Western Galilee is home to about a hundred dancers from all over the world. A visit to the dance village provides a fascinating glimpse into the kibbutz dance troupe, one of the leading troupes in Israel and around the world. The story of the dance village is conveyed in a guided tour, watching the band’s rehearsals, a meeting with the dancers, lectures, rhythm workshops, and more. Even for those who do not like dance, an intriguing and exciting surprise is expected! The kibbutz dance troupe was founded by the late Yehudit Arnon in 1970 at Kibbutz Ga’aton in the Western Galilee. The troupe has been under the artistic direction of Rami Be’er, the choreographer and main creator for the past 25 years and is considered one of the most unique and prominent contemporary dance troupes in the world. The group regularly performs at international festivals and on the prestigious and important stages in Israel and around the world. The troupe’s dancers live and perform in the international dance village in Kibbutz Ga’aton. Each of them has high abilities, a unique expression, and a fascinating stage personality. Combining them together, under the direction of Be’er, creates a group with a relevant, exciting, and inspiring artistic statement. Rami Be’er’s works are characterized by unique combinations of stage, musical and creative design, which work in harmony in large performances or in both intimate and chamber works and create a unique statement for the group. Most of the members are involved in a variety of teaching and creative activities at the International Dance Village. This includes the ‘Dance Journey’ program for dance students from all over the world, dance study and training tracks, a summer course project, tourism groups and organizations visiting from Israel and the world, and more. In addition, the dancers participate in unique projects such as a Jewish-Arab multicultural project, children, and youth from different distressed populations, and work with girls and women at risk.

Tefen Fortress

How to get there? Drive on Road 85 towards Kiryat Shmona. At the Karmiel junction, turn left towards Tefen/Ma’alot. After the Levon Junction, there is a left turn towards Yarka to road 8544. After about 1 km there is a right turn to Yarka, about 10 meters after the turn on the right side there is a crossing for cows. The Tefen Fortress is the northern citadel from around 2100 years ago. Many remains can be identified including towers, a water reservoir, and many pottery. From the western tower, there is a view towards the north of the Tefen industrial area, Nahal Beit HaEmek, Gita Lapidot, and more… Climbing the citadel is not easy and takes about 20 minutes. Right next door you will find Kishor Winery and Stern Winery. What’s better than sitting in one of the wineries and enjoying a meal and a glass of wine after (or before) the trip?! A Day Trip in the Meta Asher Area

We will go north on road 70. A little after the village of Sheikh Danun, we turn left to the Yehi’am Memorial parking lot. On the site, you can hear the story and get an impression of the special monument.  

Yehi’am Convoy

South of the Kabri junction, in the heart of a green and shady grove, is a parking lot that is a combination of pleasant pastorality with a painful history of Palestine. In the parking lot are a series of original armored vehicles that constitute an impressive monument in memory of the victims of the Yechi’am convoy who fell in the War of Independence when they tried to break the siege of Yechi’am and the Western Galilee. In place is an accessible path, picnic tables and parking.

Ein Hardalit & the Secrets of the Area

We will go up road 70 to the north and turn right to road 8911 towards Abdon. After a small bridge, we will turn right onto a dirt road that will bring us to the entrance to the reserve. Don’t be scared by a lot of cars, sometimes it just looks busy and actually inside you will find nice corners to sit in.
