Davidson Sculpture Garden
Mosaic Sculpture Gallery of the Artist Meir Davidson
קיבוץ אילון, ישראל
The sculpture garden and the house gallery of Ruth and Meirke Davidson provide the visitor with unique mosaics combined with natural groves and a flower garden. The work is scattered among oak trees, carobs, nuts, and conifers and is a living reminder of 50 years of everyday work and creativity.
The garden contains about 300 works of mosaic sculptures, mosaic masks, totem sculptures, human figures, and animals. Each piece integrates raw, colorful stone and recycled materials into organic forms, creating a vivid dialogue between human craftsmanship and the surrounding landscape.
Cultural Context & Kibbutz Heritage
Located in Kibbutz Eylon in the Western Galilee, the garden represents a lifelong artistic journey deeply intertwined with the early kibbutz movement’s ethos of labor and cultural creation. Meirke Davidson (1915–2003), a Palmach commander and key figure in Kibbutz Eylon, together with his wife Ruth, spent half a century transforming their private residential plot into an open-air sanctuary that bridges local art history and regional nature.
