Beit Elfarasha opened in December 2020 and is housed in a recently renovated Ottoman building located in a picturesque alley in the heart of the Old City of Akko, close to the Mediterranean Sea and about a minute walk to the Old Sea Wall.
The entrance level includes a modern kitchen where the workshops are held and a guest room for cultural events. On the first floor is located two spacious guest rooms and the top floor contains a large balcony overlooking the sea. It is a perfect place to rest, breathe good air and soak up the atmosphere of an ancient Mediterranean city.
Our initiative is based on two main ideas:
First, to empower local women in Akko, most of whom are housewives.
Second, the cooking workshops conducted by local women are an opportunity to get to know more closely the daily life and lifestyle and customs of the locals in Old Akko.
Western Galilee Now is a registered non-profit grassroots organization (NGO) promoting awareness and appreciation for the region’s boutique wines, beers, food and produce, along with its cultural diversity, its historic traditions and the area’s scenic routes nestled between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea acting as a Chamber of Commerce to boutique tourism operators in the region.
We expose the visitors to the unique heritage and hospitality through workshops, culinary events, art, music, guides tours, festivals and also through our Tourist Information Center in Akko, owned by JNF USA which we were chosen to operate since Jan. 2016.
Our vision is to develop local and foreign tourism based on close cooperation between all the interested parties in the region.
