The Underground Prisoners Museum in Old Akko is a commemorative museum in memory of the Hebrew underground members during the British Mandate, which were imprisoned in Acre Prison. The museum tells the historical events that occurred on the spot, and illustrates the lives of the underground prisoners and the breakthrough of Akko. The site is dedicated to the ninth that falls in the burglary and nine gallows.
The museum is housed in the fortress of Akko which was built during the Ottoman period. The fortress was used during the Ottoman rule as a military base, the Akko governor’s residence, and even a prison.
In the museum, exerted by the Ministry of Defense, an innovative display was established that describes the circumstances of the underground fighters, their lifestyle in prison, the story of the Akko Prison, and the story of the gallows.
