This route requires two vehicles, the first one is left at Kibbutz Yehi’am and the second one is left in Clil.
The first point is Kibbutz Yehi’am where the Yehiam Fortress is located and the beginning of the route of Nahal Yehi’am. At the Kabri intersection, turn right, and after 3 km at the Ga’aton intersection, turn right in the direction of Ga’aton and Yehi’am. Continue straight to Kibbutz Yehi’am, enter the main gate, and drive straight to the parking lot of the Yehi’am Fortress.

The foundations of Yehiam Fortress were built about 1000 years ago. The fortress was a farm during the time of the European Crusaders. Later, the farm was sold to a German Crusader order who fortified it into a fortress, as a line of defense for the city of Akko, which was the main city of the Crusaders at that time. After the defeat of the Crusaders by the Muslims (1291), the fortress was destroyed and stood abandoned for hundreds of years.
A trip to an ancient fortress among the mountains promises a special experience and an amazing view, a wonderful observation from the ancient watchtower.

In a dense and mostly shady Galilean forest, there is a beautiful and pleasant trail along the Yehiam Stream. The trail begins at the Yehiam Fortress with its glorious past. Before descending to the trail, you will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the stream and its surroundings. You will also enjoy a few trees, many bushes and an abundance of colorful blooms in late winter and spring. In most of the stream bed, you will also enjoy the shade of tall trees, mainly oaks and laurel. The trail is downhill with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean forest on a trail that is not so crowded, and guarantees peace.
Length of the Trail: about 3 km
Difficulty Level: medium
Description of the Trail: On the south side of the fortress, the green marking begins, which descends slightly and crosses the kibbutz fence. Be careful not to confuse it with the green marking heading east. The trail begins with a relatively steep descent. The beginning of the trail is exposed to the sun, so it is not recommended to visit on a very hot day or after rain. After about half a km, the trail reaches the bottom of the stream bed and from there continues in the shade of the trees. After about 2 km, the trail widens to a dirt road and you can see the first houses of the village in full view.
