In the heart of Kibbutz Beit HaEmek, amidst an open, green setting, lies the Saar Bak—a family-run bakery, shop, and cafe. You can stop by for fresh bread and French-style pastries, stay for coffee and a treat, sit down for a light meal, or simply enjoy the atmosphere and open space of the kibbutz.

The bakery, shop, and cafe work together to create a visitor experience you can tailor to whatever you’re in the mood for anytime. You can stop by to select from a variety of breads—including sourdough—French-style pastries, and cakes, all baked on-site. Enjoy them to-go, or take a seat in the designated areas within the complex, surrounded by the lawns and open spaces of Kibbutz Beit HaEmek.

Baking takes place on-site throughout the day; freshness is central to the bakery’s ethos. All breads and pastries are baked the same day—anything unsold is not kept for sale the following day.

Yuval and Liraz Saar built the business together, driven by a shared love of baking and a desire to create a place of their own. Yuval, the baker and owner, previously worked as a pension consultant before turning his passion for baking into a profession. He pursued professional training, gained experience at a bakery in Kishorit, and over the years, developed deep expertise in the world of bread—sourdough in particular. Liraz, also an owner and partner, manages the shop and works as a barista, playing a central role in welcoming and interacting with visitors.

The couple’s journey began on a small scale, selling breads and French-style pastries to local residents on Fridays. Over time, they decided to open a place of their own. When a space became available within the laundry complex at Beit HaEmek, they seized the opportunity and established the Saar Bakery there.

Since then, the business has continued to evolve, yet the core concept remains simple: baking on-site, serving fresh products, and creating a welcoming atmosphere—a destination worth a special trip, a perfect stop while exploring the area, or simply a place to come for the bread—and end up staying a little longer.

The Saar Bakery is the culmination of their journey together, the experience they have gained over the years, and their decision to transform a dream into a tangible space—a place you can step into, smell the fresh bread, sandwiches, French pastries, and cakes, and meet the people behind it all.
