The tour guide Gaby Zohar is a doctor of education, a clinical social worker, and a psychotherapist who specializes in treating victims of authoritarian groups (“mystical cults”), and has published the first documentary and research book of its kind in Israel on the subject, “Happiness Has No End.”
Gaby invites you on a trip following the establishment of a spiritual settlement in the Western Galilee to the outskirts of the Lower Galilee.
On the trip, we will meet different styles of spiritual settlement, sects that arose in the Galilee, people who chose an alternative life, from monastery to life according to the transcendental meditation approach.
During the trip, we will tour Mitzpe Netofa, Hararit, the “Emin” Settlement in Ma’ale Tzviya, the anthroposophists in Yodfat, listen to an unforgettable flute concert, visit a cloth house and an organic winery, get to know the idea of sects Spiritual in the Western Galilee and more surprises along the way.
In addition to his work as a tour guide and his love for the country and its trails, Gaby is a journalist at Kol Yisrael, Haaretz, and local radio and television stations.
Western Galilee Now is a registered non-profit grassroots organization (NGO) promoting awareness and appreciation for the region’s boutique wines, beers, food and produce, along with its cultural diversity, its historic traditions and the area’s scenic routes nestled between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea acting as a Chamber of Commerce to boutique tourism operators in the region.
We expose the visitors to the unique heritage and hospitality through workshops, culinary events, art, music, guides tours, festivals and also through our Tourist Information Center in Akko, owned by JNF USA which we were chosen to operate since Jan. 2016.
Our vision is to develop local and foreign tourism based on close cooperation between all the interested parties in the region.
