Romantic and mystical evening tours in the alleys of Akko or throughout the Galilee. The tours take place in the early evening, when the heat subsides and the magical silence of night descends.
We will get to know the Galilean alleys that are filled with lanterns, the new smells that spread in the air, and the colors of the day that are replaced by mysterious shadows.
We will begin or end the tour with a light lecture, and a glass of wine or a cup of coffee with snacks in one of the special Galilean houses.
The tour is led by Dr. Shelley Anne Peleg, who studied archaeology at the Hebrew University and has been involved in the preservation of historical buildings and cultural heritage for about 30 years. During her advanced studies at the University of Haifa, Shelley worked in senior management positions at the Israel Antiquities Authority and was involved in research and activities of leading Israeli and international bodies.
When Dr. Shelley Anne Peleg came to Israel as a little girl in 1974, her parents took her on a tour to Mesada. It was there she first heard of Archaeology and Yigael Yadin. She declared there and then that she wants to follow in his footsteps.
Western Galilee Now is a registered non-profit grassroots organization (NGO) promoting awareness and appreciation for the region’s boutique wines, beers, food and produce, along with its cultural diversity, its historic traditions and the area’s scenic routes nestled between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea acting as a Chamber of Commerce to boutique tourism operators in the region.
We expose the visitors to the unique heritage and hospitality through workshops, culinary events, art, music, guides tours, festivals and also through our Tourist Information Center in Akko, owned by JNF USA which we were chosen to operate since Jan. 2016.
Our vision is to develop local and foreign tourism based on close cooperation between all the interested parties in the region.
