The Secret of the Kibbutz Wonder at Kibbutz Kfar Masaryk hosts another Galilean chef once every two weeks, for a fascinating meeting about tradition and roots and the connection between food and people – “Chef’s Meetings” Series. As part of the meeting, we will hold a cooking workshop in which we will learn to prepare several dishes with the chef and have a great meal. The dishes will be eaten on Na’aman Porcelain, the legendary factory of Kfar Masaryk.
And this time – Galilean authenticity and tradition with Chef Paul Nirens, from the GalilEAT venture
Paul Nirens is the entrepreneur behind GalilEAT – Galilean home cooking and hospitality workshops. Paul immigrated to Israel from Australia 35 years ago and settled in the Galilee. Until he founded GalilEAT he worked as a chef in restaurants. His goal was to bring authentic Galilean food to Israelis and tourists from abroad, inside the homes of host families throughout the Galilee, in a pleasant and informal atmosphere, with cooking workshops and meals.
The session will open with a conversation with the chef about food, inspiration and the connection between different cultures through food. Paul will talk to us about the connection between home, tradition and heritage and about the people and seasons in the Galilee. We will hear how in the Galilee we live together in peace and how it affects our daily existence. Then we will continue with a 45-minute workshop in which we will learn how to prepare our favorite Galilean dishes – Patosh salad, vine leaves and stuffed zucchini. Participants will take an active part in a short and fun workshop and will receive recipes. Finally, we will sit together for a wonderful authentic joint meal, which will be served with the original Na’aman dishes that were previously made in the factory of Kibbutz Kfar Masaryk. The meal menu will include the handmade delicacies, along with a ginger salad, sinia coffee tahini, meat stew, chicory, unloading and a refreshing tamarahindi drink.
