Walied Khoury is a native of the beautiful Christian village of Fassuta. One of the two villages in the Western Galilee with only Christian residents. Walied became interested in iron at the age of 40, having never worked in manual labor before.
You can visit Walied at his blacksmith shop, hear his story, see a variety of works, be impressed by the furniture he builds and watch his demonstration of ironwork.
By prior arrangement, he will take you on a short tour of the village – to the old church that was renovated in the past year.
Walied was asked to restore the entrance door to the church and its columns. The old church is close to the new church, which is also worth a visit.
Walied, born in Fassuta, only began sculpting and forging iron at the age of 40. Since then, he has won competitions in Israel and around the world, and his love for iron can be seen in the sculptures he creates, each of which has its own story.
