The Monkey Forest started as a living corner for Yodfat children in the 1970s. Then, our squirrel monkeys were brought from a habitat in Belgium and the area was renamed “Monkey Forest.” Even then, our attitude was that holding the monkeys in the cages was wrong and that’s why the monkeys were given a big forest plot for life in a territory just for them.
In 1990, the Monkey Forest became a haven for animals, education, and tourism. Ever since the basis for connecting with the animals and the vegetation has been respect and love. The approach is that animals feel, sense, and matter to our world and deserve to live (when not in nature) as close to natural conditions as possible. Now we invite you, lovers of nature and animals, to come, walk leisurely through the forest paths, to meet the animals living there, without compromising the trust created with the animals, their safety, and the vegetation.
But wait … what animals are in the park?
Squirrel monkeys, crab macaque monkeys, green garden monkeys, lemurs, capuchin monkeys, donkeys, ponies, goats, sheep, parrots, water birds, African ostrich, emu, ferret, elk, deer, sea turtles, falcon, nasua, and other animals you can discover during your visit with us.
Because with us, it’s natural for you to come visit us.
