Kashash Sweets is a business established over 100 years ago in 1915, by Heir Kashash, who began creating traditional sweets from peanuts and sesame seeds and selling them from his cart. Later he opened a production facility in the Old City of Akko, where he also began making such delicacies as knafe and honey-soaked baklava. Today there are four generations of Kashash family members working together in the business.
You can choose from a range of 22 different varieties of traditional Akko sweets, all freshly prepared each morning. You will be able to choose between baklava with pistachios, almonds, cashews, and even chocolate, or make up your mind between three different varieties of knafe – potato knafe from Nablus, red, or natural knafe.
By prior arrangement, you can hear about the history of the place and watch the preparation process. And naturally, you can take home a colorful and luscious box of our delicacies.
The most important thing for the Kashash family is to see the smile on their customer’s face, and that kind of love is discernible in every bite.
Western Galilee Now is a registered non-profit grassroots organization (NGO) promoting awareness and appreciation for the region’s boutique wines, beers, food and produce, along with its cultural diversity, its historic traditions and the area’s scenic routes nestled between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea acting as a Chamber of Commerce to boutique tourism operators in the region.
We expose the visitors to the unique heritage and hospitality through workshops, culinary events, art, music, guides tours, festivals and also through our Tourist Information Center in Akko, owned by JNF USA which we were chosen to operate since Jan. 2016.
Our vision is to develop local and foreign tourism based on close cooperation between all the interested parties in the region.
