The kibbutz dance troupe was founded by the late Yehudit Arnon in 1970 at Kibbutz Ga’aton in the Western Galilee. The troupe has been under the artistic direction of Rami Be’er, the choreographer and main creator for the past 25 years and is considered one of the most unique and prominent contemporary dance troupes in the world.
The group regularly performs at international festivals and on the prestigious and important stages in Israel and around the world. The troupe’s dancers live and perform in the international dance village in Kibbutz Ga’aton. Each of them has high abilities, a unique expression, and a fascinating stage personality. Combining them together, under the direction of Be’er, creates a group with a relevant, exciting, and inspiring artistic statement.
Rami Be’er’s works are characterized by unique combinations of stage, musical and creative design, which work in harmony in large performances or in both intimate and chamber works and create a unique statement for the group. Most of the members are involved in a variety of teaching and creative activities at the International Dance Village. This includes the ‘Dance Journey’ program for dance students from all over the world, dance study and training tracks, a summer course project, tourism groups and organizations visiting from Israel and the world, and more. In addition, the dancers participate in unique projects such as a Jewish-Arab multicultural project, children, and youth from different distressed populations, and work with girls and women at risk.
