A traveler, tour guide, and a Galilean cultural researcher. Amnon, a resident of Kfar Vradim, a graduate of the History Department at Tel Aviv University, completed 22 years of military service with the rank of lieutenant colonel and later became an emissary to South America. After returning to Israel, he managed a regional radio station and decided to take a sabbatical among the Galilee villages and its residents, during which he began to guide tours. Among his outstanding achievements – author of the best-selling travel books “Secrets of Galilee” and “Five Minutes from the Zimmer”; presenter of the radio program “Galilee Time” and radio station spots that specialized in the Galilee experience; writer of columns and articles that were published in prominent travel and culture newspapers and magazines in Israel. Curious and a constant researcher who specializes in folklore tours in the Galilee, wine tours, geopolitical tours, and even experiential tours to the taverns in Greece.
Among Amnon Gofer’s flagship tours: A Tour of Galilee Vineyards to Boutique Wineries through Ancient Wine Presses, including Introduction to the grapevine in the heart of the city of Carmiel, an ancient wine press, a church with a mosaic floor and an intoxicating landscape – the meeting point for a short conversation about the tour, wine, the Hebrew language over a morning cup of coffee. A winery on top of the mountain and God-given landscape.
We will climb the mountain to Kibbutz Tuval and be provided with hospitality that is all good wine. We will meet the winemaker Johnny Stern at the Stern boutique winery. We will end with a unique view over the cliff of the landscapes of the Lower Galilee.
